The importance of clock time synchronization in Windows
In most offices, computers operate independently, meaning settings have to be managed on each one separately—and they don’t always line up perfectly across users.
When it comes to syncing communication between workstations, having the correct time on all devices is essential, especially for time-sensitive systems like BlueNote Communicator Lights. Since each message is time-stamped by the user who sends it, even small differences in computer clocks can cause major confusion. For example, imagine a doctor is summoned at 10:30 on one computer, but the receiving computer’s clock shows 11:00. The recipient would assume the doctor was called 30 minutes ago, even though the request just came through a moment earlier!
Here's an example of one active Light that is not synching between computers. The green color indicates that the notification is new; however in the second computer, the light quickly ages from green to orange, showing an incorrect time differential.
Computer 2:
If the time is not correct at a workstation, the user should be able to change the settings in Windows, which will effectively correct this problem.
How to set the correct time in Windows
The instructions below are for Windows 11, so they may vary slightly for older versions.
-
Open the Date and Time settings. You may search for "Time" in your Windows search bar, then click to open.
-
Locate "Set time automatically" and toggle this On.
-
Verify that all the other settings are correct, such as the time zone, Daylight Savings time, etc.
Make sure all the other workstations on the network are also set to sync with automatic time. This should resolve any discrepancies between workstations in the office, ensuring that team notifications within BlueNote Communicator stay accurate.
