What is a status?

This is the active state of your location. A status can indicate the need for assistance, it can be used to call a doctor into the location, or it can simply state that you are at lunch. If your status is set, it will appear on the Status Board where everyone can see it.

Is the Trial version the same as the Retail version?

Yes, The only difference is that the Trial version is limited to 30 days and 50 locations.

I cannot find my registration code.

We just added new computers and I need to upgrade my license.

Do I need to purchase a license for each computer on my network?

Yes, BlueNote Status is licensed per running computer, so each computer that is turned on and running BlueNote Status throughout the day will need a license. Please see our purchase page for more information on pricing.

Can I use the same BlueNote license at multiple locations?

No, each location will need to purchase a license. We do offer multisite discounts so give our sales department a call and get a price quote.

How large can BlueNote Status get?

BlueNote Status is only bound by your network. BlueNote can easily scale beyond 200 networked computers, and also allows for internal segmentation so multiple offices can run BlueNote on the same network without interfering with each other.

Does BlueNote require Internet Access?

No, BlueNote Status does not use or require Internet access. No information is being sent across the Internet. BlueNote only detects the presence of other BlueNote clients on your local network.

The only time we will use Internet access is to check for software updates. And even this is optional and not required.

Is BlueNote secure?

Yes, BlueNote encrypts all typed messages as they are sent across your network. And since we do not send any information using the Internet all of your communications are safe and secure on your local network.

Can I get additional support and updates for BlueNote Status?

Sure enough. Our AfterCare Maintenance is available to extend updates as well as phone and email support for 1 year.

How do I set my status?

To type your status, from the Status Board click on the green + (plus) button and hit the “Set Status” button. You’ll also have options to choose from previously typed statuses and pre-set statuses but this is the simplest way to set a status.

I don’t want anything to interrupt my charting. How do I temporarily turn off BlueNote Status?

There is a DND button in the upper right-hand corner of your Status board. Toggle it on and off to place your location in Do Not Disturb mode.

Where can I change my location name or color?

Click the round menu button and then click on Options. This will take you to the Location tab. Click on the “Change” button to change the name. You’ll also find that the color can be changed in this same tab. Hit OK when you’re finished making changes.

How do I type a message to send to someone?

Just double-click on their location name and a Location Actions window will open. Click on Message and then type in the lower half of the message window. Press Send (or hit ctrl+enter) when you’re finished.

If you’d like to send a message to more than one person at a time, click the round menu button then click Quick Message. Choose the locations/people where you want the message to be sent, compose your message in the lower right half window and press Send (or hit ctrl+enter) when you’re finished typing.

What is the Favorites view and what does it do?

Favorites are the select locations that you have chosen to view apart from the others. Double-click on a location and then choose Add to Favorites.

If a location is in your Favorites view, you can give it a custom alert tone. Double-click on the location again and click on the button that says Options. Choose a new tone from the dropdown menu (you’ll be able to preview the tone first). Once you have changed the tone any status that posts to this Favorites location will be accompanied by the custom tone at your computer.

To remove a location from your Favorites. go to this same Options tab within the Location Actions window.

Who can clear my status?

Anyone can clear any status. If you have a status posted, it will appear at your location as “My Status” below your navigation bar with its own Turn Off button. Click this button to clear it from the status board.

To clear a status remotely, double-click on a location name and then press Clear Status to remove it from the status board.

Can I tell how long a status has been on the board?

Yes. After three minutes each status will show how much time has elapsed since it was posted.

What are Location Notes?

These are designed to be used as location modifiers; in other words, what is going on at that location that day. Your location note could be the clinicians using that room, the procedures being performed there, how you are feeling (!) or any other descriptive information that will help identify that location apart from the others.

By default the location notes are turned off, but you can view them by toggling the Location Notes icon in your navigation bar in the upper right-hand corner.

Location Notes can be added or changed by right-clicking on a location and then selecting “Location Note.”

I missed the last status that was posted. How can I view it again?

Everything that posts to BlueNote Status, including phone calls, doorbells, status posts and messages will be saved in the Recents window that you will be able to access from the round menu button.

Where do I retrieve quick messages that were sent to me?

If you have unread messages they will appear in your New Messages view in the navigation bar. Click the blue message bubble to view your messages. Double-click on a message to read it in its entirety or to respond to the sender.

Once you have responded to the message it will automatically clear out of the message view.

I like this doorbell! What else can I do with it?

A great option for anyone at the front desk is to put the doorbell right on the front of the software to make it easier to use. From the round menu button, click Options and then go to the Status tab. Add a Doorbell icon to the status bar by checking the appropriate box. Now when patients arrive it is simple to send an office-wide doorbell alert with a single click.

If you’d prefer to doorbell a single location, double-click a location on the Status Board and then press the Doorbell button in the Location Actions window. Or just right-click on the location and choose Doorbell. Directed doorbells will have a slightly different tone than the office-wide doorbell.

Want to see patient’s names along with the doorbell? Type in their name or short message before you hit the doorbell in the Location Actions window.

Is there any way to add a patient’s name to Status?

Yes, but it is an option. Click the round menu button and go to Options. Click over to the Status tab and check “Enter a name after pressing the Location Occupied button.”

Each time that you set your occupied status you will be prompted to add the patient’s name.

To set a name from the Status Board you should right-click on a location and select Occupied before adding the patient name.
