BlueNote Communicator Lights is compatible with all 32/64 bit versions of Microsoft Windows starting with XP and coming into modern times with Windows 10. We also support Windows based tablets running Windows 8.1 pro or higher.
Currently BlueNote only runs on Microsoft Windows. We do however support the use of BlueNote running inside a virtual machine with macOS as the host operating system. We recommend VMWare Fusion, Parallels and VirtualBox.
BlueNote Versions 5 and 6 are compatible and can be used together in the same network, minus the new features of version 6. If you are currently using version 5 you can manually upgrade to version 6 by downloading the latest version from the downloads page. Installing version 6 will automatically remove version 5 and upgrade all settings to version 6.
If you are using BlueNote Lights version 1 then you can upgrade to version 6 by downloading the latest version from our downloads page. Installing version 6 will remove version 1, however version 1 and version 6 are not compatible. You will need to upgrade all computers running BlueNote to version 6. Your License, settings, and main database will be migrated to the new version.
No. BlueNote Communicator Lights was designed to be a server-less communication system. Server-less means installations are fast, and that BlueNote does not have a single point of failure.
However there are times when a server-less design is not as desirable. An example of this would be wireless networks. Most Wi-Fi networks used by medical offices are protected from the main wired network to prevent unauthorized access. In this scenario you would use one of the BlueNote clients on the wired network to assist the BlueNote clients on the Wi-Fi network using a Gateway mode that is included with each BlueNote client.
The current version of BlueNote Communicator Lights is 6.6.118 (update 6 Build 118)
