BlueNote Communicator Features FAQ
A white arrow indicates that there is a computer actively logged in at that specific location. If the arrow is black, there are no computers associated with that location, or it can mean that the endpoint at that location is offline.
Each computer workstation can have its own background wallpaper. These are changed individually from the Menu.
The caduceus is a High Alert Button which is designed for emergencies when a staff member cannot leave a patient alone. It can only be turned off where it was turned on, and will not work if no location has been set at an Endpoint.
This means that there are unread messages in your Message Log.
A BlueNote is an action or event that needs to happen within a practice. BlueNotes are posted to the NoteBoard in much the same manner that a to-do list can be pegged to a corkboard. When a task is complete, the BlueNote should be removed from the NoteBoard.
These are Quick Keys that allow for one-click posting of BlueNotes on the NoteBoard.
Either from Quick Keys or directly on the NoteBoard.
Yes, but you will need to set up this feature on a Quick Key.
Actions are easily changed by going to Menu>Options>System Wide Changes from any endpoint.
Single-click the name of the location and select Resend Alert. If you want this to happen automatically you can go to System Wide Changes and check the option to resend all posts that aren’t cleared automatically at a timed interval. They can be sent once or set to be continually sent until cleared.
If you right-click on an active BlueNote you can send a text message response as an acknowledgment. You can also simply clear the BlueNote to show that it has been seen.
Yes. The Mobile Devices Gateway can be set up in System Wide Changes from your Endpoint.
A Popup is a separate window that lets all Endpoints know that a BlueNote has been posted to the NoteBoard.
If you want all of the popups to be turned off, go to Menu>Options>BlueNotes and disable the popup box. If you want some popups and not others, you will need to do this at each location’s Alert Manager.
Popups will only show up on your primary monitor. This will be the monitor that has the Windows Start bar. You can change the popup’s position from the lower right-hand corner to any other position, but you will need to reset the popup’s position each time that the computer or BlueNote program is shut down and restarted.
The first post of a BlueNote will display a blue popup window. Subsequent reposting of that same BlueNote will turn the popup orange. Resend Alert is the option that is chosen to repost a BlueNote.
Yes. From the Popup itself, click on the down arrow or on the BlueNote Icon and choose Remove Post.
When BlueNote Communicator is first installed on your network it is programmed to broadcast all tones. Once you know which ones aren’t needed in the locations where you are hearing a “tone overload” you can go into the Alert Manager and turn off the ones that are excessive.
Make sure that you have speakers that are turned on at your computer, or else you can use your computer’s internal speaker. You may have DND on, a location Muted, or have tones turned off in the Alert Manager.
You can choose new tones in the Alert Manager. If you want every computer in the office to have the same tone for each BlueNote Action you will need to disable individual choice in System Wide Changes.
Yes, though it may be helpful to differentiate between those locations in your user name; i.e.”John@Rm3″, “John@Rm4″, etc.
Because you can only have one name on the User list at a time, you can put both people in the User field, i.e. “Diane/Dr. Hill.” Any message sent to “Diane/Dr. Hill” will go wherever this user name is logged in on the system.
If their name isn’t on the Recipients list, this may mean that they haven’t signed in as a User at an Endpoint. There also the possibility that their workstation may be shut down.
Yes. All Endpoints that have their locations set and have checked the “Include” box under Menu>User and Location can receive typed messages that are sent to the location name.
You can either select Quick Message from the Message Bar and scroll down to Edit, or do the same from the Type a Message window.
Yes. Your messages can be sent to one person or to many, or to all, depending upon how you program the message group buttons.
All history of typed messages are saved in the Message log. You can also select a message in this list and then right-click on it to print it or save it to file.
By default BlueNote Communicator clears out the Message log each night. You can be sure that they are saved instead by changing your preferences in the Options menu of your Endpoint.
Choose a message as it appears in the log – it will turn black when selected. Then right-click and hit your Delete key.
It is for monitoring the locations of patients, amount of chairtime, and staff members assigned to each patient.
Patients can be added to the Waiting Room or directly in a treatment room.
Yes. Go to Menu>Options>Waiting Room to check a box that will allow you to view patient names on the NoteBoard patient tabs.
